The Urban Ecology Center
at Phil Hardberger Park
The PHP Urban Ecology Center (UEC) opened in September of 2013 and includes 18,600 square feet of recreation and education space.
Designed by Lake Flato Architects, and constructed by Guido Brothers Construction, the UEC is built out of limestone and other materials native to the park. The $6.3 million PHP Urban Ecology Center overlooks the newly restored savanna and Golden Age, a commissioned art installation by San Antonio artist, Anne Wallace.
The PHP Urban Ecology is certified LEED Gold (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design).

The PHP Urban Ecology Center provides a natural sanctuary in the heart of an urban area. The UEC is designed to be used by the community for educational lectures, private parties, corporate events, business meetings, and weddings. The UEC has a 3,000 sq. ft. Gathering Hall and a 1,000 sq. ft. classroom available to rent.
