Join us for an in-person nature education presentation by Nicolas Phillips, an expert student of Entomology and an award-winning insect collector. Nick will guide the group, helping locate and identify insects to collect and examine. If you've ever wanted to learn more about identifying various native arthropods, this is a great opportunity to gain some insight and ask questions to our local experts.
What to expect:
The morning begins with a brief overview in our classroom with time for viewing collections, questions, and learning proper netting techniques. Afterward, a collecting party will commence in our Savanna! Participants will net insects and bring them to a central location for Nicolas to comment on and, where possible, identify them.
Please wear closed-toed shoes, dress for the weather, and bring some water to drink! Restrooms are available at the Urban Ecology Center
This talk is part of our monthly 4th Saturday Nature Walk series provided by our Alamo Area Master Naturalists and the Alamo Group of the Sierra Club.
