Family, Outdoors! Bug Hunt!

  • Salado Outdoor Classroom 13203 Blanco Road San Antonio, TX, 78216 United States (map)

Do you like BUGS and other insects? Would you like to know what arthropods live in our park? Join our Education Coordinator, Mr. David, on a discovery walk out in the park to find and learn about our local insect neighbors! We will start the walk promptly at 11am.

During the walk, participants will carefully collect, identify, and release insects and other arthropods. What do you think we'll find? A scavenger hunt will help, too!

We'll also utilize an app called 'Seek', the kid-friendly, no account required, version of iNaturalist! Then, you can use this knowledge again for the Annual City Nature Challenge, from April 26th to April 29th, to document the most plant and animal species! Find more information about the challenge and how to download the app at CNC-SA.org

**This is for families with children over 8 years old and groups interested in native flora and fauna identification.

  • Easy to moderate hiking.

  • Feel free to pre-download the Seek or iNaturalist apps before your hike.
