AAMN Nature Passports - Explore and Observe Area Parks through Nature Journaling

  • Salado Outdoor Classroom 13203 Blanco Road San Antonio, TX, 78216 United States (map)

Join Catherine Sobieszczyk, an AAMN member and science educator, to explore nature journaling. Catherine will share the journaling process and educational purpose used to develop the first series of Nature Passports; designed for students 9 to 12, they can be a springboard nature journaling for enthusiasts of all ages.

The JMN Nature Passports are available to anyone! Each passport shares a “mission” that brings focus to a particular aspect of nature. The single double-sided page includes QR codes that link to the current iNaturalist sightings and facts about the park’s flora and fauna. There are highlighted features unique to the park; some questions to be answered; plus, a journaling page to capture what was seen with sketches and field notes. Click here to find all the nature passports (all free to the public); printed copies will be available at the presentation.

The Alamo Area Texas Master Naturalists have developed an in-person Junior Master Naturalist (JMN) Class for ages 9 to 12. The inaugural class is nearly complete. The next enrolling class is in 2023. Visit https://txmn.org/alamo/ for more information.
